Meaningful progress on climate change in this decade will require significant changes to almost every global sector, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, and land use. Our November speaker, Christine Darnell, will provide insights and guidance on this important topic. Owner of Christine Darnell Gardens, Christine operates a boutique landscape and garden design studio in Chester, CT. Her firm embraces an ethos of sustainability, and uses local materials, local artisans, and native plants whenever possible. Ms. Darnell creates gardens with a goal of enhancing the immediate landscape, and the larger ecosystem, and to provide diversity among plantings. Christine’s presentation will address the ecological processes that sustain and help to regulate the changing environment. She’ll discuss making appropriate choices in planting design with regard to water, soil, and migrating pollinators and wildlife, and will explain that there are many ways to reconsider how we create gardens that will last and thrive, even in extremes. Don’t miss this important program.
