This year’s Christmas Market, held at the Rowayton Community Center on December 7th, was a great success. Proceeds will be used to fund upcoming community projects that improve and beautify our public spaces. An added benefit of the Market is the creativity, team work and camaraderie it inspired among Club members in the weeks leading up to the sale. Gathering to solicit and display silent auction gifts, to create centerpieces and shell wreaths, to decorate evergreen and grapevine wreaths, boxwood tabletop trees, and birch log planters, and to make gorgeous bows and delicious plum pudding, they gave gobs of time to make the sale a success. In the process, they discovered new talents, developed appreciation for their fellow Club members’ efforts, and got to know each other while having fun. Everyone who took part was aware of the extensive planning and preparation that went into making the various workshops run smoothly. Shoppers were in awe of the quality and variety of wares and delighted with the bevy of helpers as Gardeners stored their purchases in the holding area and then efficiently rang up sales. Have a look at these photos of Gardeners and their creations from the 2013 event.
