Field Trip to the Florence Griswold Museum

If you have not been to the Florence Griswold House and Museum, you are in for a treat.  “The Home of American Impressionism” is first a walk back in time though the boarding house that became a gathering place for so many of the giants of this genre.  The house tour is fascinating, as is a tour of the grounds that inspired artists along the banks of the Lieutenant River.  Second, the visit is a wonderful modern museum full of more American art – much of it from the fabulous Hartford Steam Boiler Collection.  Finally, the historically accurate gardens that surround the buildings are simply magnificent at all times of year.  For more details about the day and to register, click here.
