Field Trip: Stone Barns Center and Union Church

The Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture will be our first stop for the day. The property, once part of the Rockefeller Estate, is now an eighty acre farm, educational center and home to the award winning restaurant ‘Blue Hill at Stone Barns.’ Our guided Insider’s Tour of the property provides a behind the scenes look at life on the farm and  will include tours of the greenhouse, growing fields and an explanation of their practices of sustainable and resilient farming. Following our tour, we’ll enjoy a  casual and lovely Buffet Lunch in the Hay Barn on the property. 

 

After lunch, we’ll make our way to the Union Church of Pocantico Hills, for a half hour guided tour of this Gothic Revival Church and a look at the magnificent Chagal and Matisse windows which were commissioned by the Rockefeller family. 

Schedule:

8:45 AM:  Meet at the Community Center parking lot to form carpools for the drive to Pocantico Hills
10:00-11:30 AM:  Guided Tour: Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture
11:30-12:30 PM:  Buffet Lunch in the Hay Barn
1:00 -1:30 PM:  Guided Tour: Union Church of Pocantico Hills
2:30 PM:  Arrive back at Community Center

• COST: $70 members; $75 non-members. Includes Guided Tour of Stone Barns and Buffet Lunch and Guided Tour of Union Church of Pocantico Hills
• Open to Members and Non-Members. Space is limited so, sign up soon
