Field Trip to NYBG to see the Kusama: Cosmic Nature Exhibition

Thursday, September 23

10:00 am - 12:30 pm

What better way to be inspired than by joining the Rowayton Gardeners for this fabulous early autumn field trip to the New York Botanical Garden, on a docent-led tour of this highly acclaimed exhibition? Contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is one of the most popular artists in the world, drawing millions who desire to experience her immersive installations. Through her art, Kusama reveals her lifelong fascination with the natural world, beginning with her childhood spent in the greenhouses and fields of her family’s seed nursery. Her artistic concepts of obliteration, infinity, and eternity are inspired by her intimate engagement with colors, patterns, and life cycles of plants and flowers. We’ll also have interior access to Kusama’s new immersive installation, Infinity Mirrored Room – Illusion Inside the Heart (2020).

After the guided tour, we’ll have an opportunity to visit, on our own, some of the other Kusama installations on the grounds. Lunch will be in the Pine Tree Cafe, where we’ll enjoy individual Garden Market Baskets of preselected items.
