On one of the hottest days of the summer, a hearty band of Rowayton Gardeners joined a troop of kids from Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education to take part in the weeding of a large section of the Rowayton School Courtyard. Under the direction of Gardener Michele Casey and Lisa Laible, we cleared unwanted plants that had taken over several beds and infiltrated the sidewalk cracks. Two hours of intensive labor made a huge difference – helping pave the way for others to work this summer on the courtyard’s transformation into a lovely outdoor classroom, complete with a smart board, new seating areas and a shade sail canopy, among other features.
